It's all about purple

Purple is one of my favourite colours. It's so feminine without being so overly girly like pink. I find that a lot of people don't know how to wear pink in a classy way. It can look too princess-y or tacky. What do you guys think? Whenever I do incorporate pink in my outfit I try to only wear one thing that is pink. And it's always a coral pink or a more saturated pink- never baby pink!

I find purple looks great with neutrals. I do love my dark purples, but since it's Spring I've been wearing a lot of lighter purples.

I'm wearing Essie's To Buy Or Not To Buy and Deborah Lippmann's Happy Birthday
on my ring and middle finger.

I love how this combination looks on my fingers.
Gotta love my Balenciaga City in Jacinthe with regular hardware. Yes, it's a purple bag, but I
find it goes so well with a lot neutral items in my wardrobe. Sorry about the plain outfit
here. I was out shopping and I always try to wear comfy outfits that I can get in/out of easily.

I picked up a beautiful light lavender top from Forever 21. It was $21.80CAD.

Here is a change room OOTD of myself wearing the top. I absolutely love this top. It's
semi-sheer so I have to wear something under it. It looks more expensive than it really is.
I tried it on with a pair of cobalt blue skinny jeans from Forever 21, but I didn't end up
getting it. I wish I did though…

Mini haul & Spring nails

I picked up 2 things at Forever 21 this past weekend.
I was there for only a quick little while so I didn't get a chance to browse for too long. However, I love the 2 tops that I picked up. I feel that they are classic pieces that I can get a lot of wear out of this Spring/Summer.

Here's the first top.
It's a coral tank top that I think will look so pretty with jeans or even a pair of white jeans.

Here's a close-up.
It's a 100% polyester blend, but I think it still looks nice. I normally love silk tops, but
I know silk is extremely delicate and shows marks easily.

The best part was that it was only $12.80CAD.

Here's how it looks on.
The top had a lot of crease marks, but I think a good steam will get rid of the marks.

The back is longer than the front so I love that it hides the bum area :-)

I know this doesn't look like much on the hanger, but I absolutely love this top.
It was a burnout effect so it is semi-sheer. The neckline at the top is higher than the
neckline at the back. I love that because I think a cute bib necklace will look great
with this top.

Here is the back. You can see that it has a scoop neckline.

And here's how it looks on.

And the back.
I threw out the receipt, but I think this was a little over $15CAD. It is 100% linen.

Here's my outfit of the day. I'm wearing an oversized H&M sweater and black leggings.
It's been raining almost every single day here so I've been wearing my Hunters almost
daily. I'm tired of this drab weather!

I thought I would show you guys my nails. I am wearing several different shades of
pink and glitter polish on 2 fingers. I love this look!

Spring pop

Spring is finally here! It's just starting to warm up where I am, but not nearly fast enough. I still see snow in some areas of the city :-/
Today was the first day that I was able to open up the windows in my house to let some air in. It felt so nice! It's been so drab and cold this Winter that I needed to get my Spring/Summer fix by running out getting the new-ish Maybelline ColorSensational Vivid lipsticks. They are super bright and the colours are just amazing- perfect for Spring. I picked these up at Walmart last week and although they were listed for just over $7CAD, I got them for a little over $5CAD each. They must have been on sale. I'm not sure if they are still on sale as I visited a Walmart a few days ago and they didn't have a special price on it. I still think they are worth it as they are super pigmented and the formulation is great.

The 3 colours that I got were #865 Fuchsia Flash, #870 Shocking Coral and #900 Hot Plum.
I actually saw Bella's review on them here and fell in love how these lippies looked on her.

Here is Fuchsia Flash.
As soon as I saw it it reminded me of MAC's Candy Yum Yum.

Here they are side-by-side. Pretty similar, no?

Left is Maybelline's Fuchsia Flash and right is MAC's Candy Yum Yum.
I would say the formulation of the Maybelline one is a little more glossy while Candy Yum Yum
is a matte.

This is Shocking Coral.
When I first saw the colour I thought it looked similar to MAC's Archie's Girls Collection
lipstick in Betty Bright.

Here they are side-by-side. When I saw them side-by-side they didn't look that similar…

The 3rd swatch is Shocking Coral. I wanted to swatch Betty Bright, but I actually haven't
even used it yet. I'm debating whether to sell it or not. I feel like I just bought Betty Bright
just because of the packaging. I'm weird like that…

Lastly, this is Hot Plum.
This was Bella's favourite out of the ones she got so I knew I had to pick this up.
It, again, reminded me vaguely of another MAC's Archie's Girls Collection lipstick in
Daddy's Little Girl.

Here they are side-by-side.
I would say Hot Plum leans a little more on the magenta side.

Here is Hot Plum swatched (far right).
I took these all in daylight with no flash.

Costa Chic

Bright lips have been my obsession this spring/summer.
I've been looking for a bright orange lipstick for a while now and I'm so glad I found MAC's Costa Chic lipstick. You guys saw it in my haul previous to this one, but I can't stop looking at it. It's nothing like anything I own and I wore it on Tuesday (photo above). I paired it with a bright green top from Forever 21, gray shorts, and cobalt blue flats (not shown). Let's just say I'm colour obsessed this season!

I also tried a simple thing on my hair. Usually I wear it down and straight, but I tried twisting a section of it and pinning it back with 2 hair pins (criss crossed). I wore it 2 days out of this week and I love it!

Ready for spring

I'm so over winter. Enough of the snow. Enough of the cold weather.
Even though it's not quite warm enough to be thinking about spring, I'm so enamoured with all the spring collections that are out in stores.
I made a few purchases this week that I'm really excited to show you guys.

Essie's nail polishes from the Spring 2011 French Affair Collection in Coat Azure (blue) and Nice is Nice (light lilac).

I absolutely love the name of this. So witty. This one is a cornflower blue with very fine shimmers.

This is really similar to Lilacism from Essie. Lilacism is a tad more blue.

Today I went shopping with my sister and I made a few purchases.

I picked up 2 shimmering body lotions, 3 mini antibacterial hand gels, and one hand gel holder at Bath and Body Works. Oh how I love that store...

This is the first Shimmer Gel and Body Lotion that I got. It's the Japanese Cherry Blossom scent. Smells so nice. The regular price was $12.50, but I got 2 for $18. Not a bad deal...

This is the Sweet Pea one. I love this scent.

The idea of this is that it pumps out lotion and shimmer gel at the same time.

The special thing about this is that you can select if you want more lotion or more shimmer gel when you are pumping it by turning the dial left or right. That way you can control how much shimmer you want. Ingenious, no?

I pumped it with 1 part shimmer gel and 1 part lotion. The Japanese Cherry Blossom has gold shimmer while the Sweet Pea one has silver shimmer.

The reason I went into Bath & Body Works was to get this- the holder for the mini antibacterial hand gels. My friend has one of these and she loops it around her hand bag handle. That way she always has a hand sanitizer nearby and she's not rummaging through her bag to find it. It's perfect for mothers.

Here it is with the hand gel inside.

The only negative was that the blue glitter goes all over my hand. This was the only colour I liked. The others were tie-dye and really ugly.

I picked up Cucumber Melon (one of my favourite scents), Sweet Pea, and Aqua Blossom.

I was checking out Forever 21 today and I immediately saw this Rory Beca for Forever 21 dress. It's a one-shoulder dress that is in the prettiest shade of blush pink. It's so pretty on! I love it when stores have collaborations with designers. You're able to get beautiful designer pieces for a fraction of the price. This dress was $27.80.

I also picked up a few accessories to go with this dress. I got a cream necklace for $3.80 and an earring set for $4.80.

I'm always amazed how cheap Forever 21 is.

What a beautiful tag too.

The back of the tag has a little designer bio.

I also picked up a pair of dark wash skinny jeans. They are a shorter length than regular denim jeans so they are perfect for me. I'm only 5'3". They also have zipper detailing on the bottom.

They are also high-waisted. Hides the muffin top :-)

Here are the pockets at the back. I like plain jeans like these nowadays. I really hate flashy back pockets (i.e., True Religions in particular...).

Also picked up 2 new MAC lipsticks.

This is called Up The Amp and it's an Amplified colour. It's showing up mauve here, but it's actually a mauve-y purple. I saw a girl trying this colour at the store and she looked AMAZING. It's definitely not something I normally wear, but I'm trying to be open-minded these days. Better to try it when I'm still young, no? Well, I'm actually not that young anymore...

Here's the label just in case you're interested.

I also picked up the Sheen Supreme Lipstick in Full Speed. This just came out, but don't worry, it's going to be part of their permanent collection. It's a beautiful bright coral (more yellow-based than Ultra Darling which is more blue-based). I love the formulation on these. It's an intense colour, but super moisturizing. I'm thinking of picking up other colours in this collection.

Here's the label for Full Speed.

Here are the swatches. The colours are a little off because of my lighting.

That's it for my haul this week. I leave you with some photos of fresh gerbera flowers that I have by my computer. Feels like spring already!
