Lovin' those deals!

My favourite thing about this time of the year is the great sales that are happening all around. Although I bought loads of cute things in Vegas I came back to T.O. with all the Boxing day/week sales. Most things were 50-75% off.

I bought this $478CAD Burberry sunglasses for $230CAD.

These BCBG Emlyn white patent flats (shown in black) were $129CAD. Down from $258CAD.

I also bought dk a gorgeous D&G jacket from Harry Rosen in army green. It was originally $995CAD, down to $695CAD. It was pricey, but it was a good investment.

Viva Las Vegas

Now I know why people go to Vegas. I had the most amazing time there.
I ate lots, played lots (especially the Deal or No Deal slots!), watched good shows- i.e., the Cirque du Soleil "O" Show (BTW, it was AMAZING!), and shopped lots– I bought a whole wardrobe from Nanette Lepore. Everything was half price!

Here are some pics of my trip:

A view of our hotel, The Mirage.

Treasure Island. AKA TI. Whatchu know about that...

Wynn- the nicest hotel on the strip.

Part of the The Venetian.

Entrance to The Forum Shops at Caesars Palace.

Up the escalators inside The Forum Shops at Caesars Palace.

View of Paris Las Vegas.

Watching the Bellagio Fountain Show. It was quite spectacular.

Hoover Dam on our way to the Grand Canyon.

The breathtaking view...

Woke up during the long bus ride back to Vegas to a beautiful sunset.

So long Vegas...

I'm leaving on a jet plane...

It's been a crazy week, but tomorrow dk and I are heading off to Sin City.
It's weird... This is the first year I'll be away from my parents and sisters during Christmas time. My parents are spending the holidays in New York City while my sisters will be in Toronto taking care of baby Rosco.

Gifts giving

I finally got around to making/baking gifts for some of my co-workers.
I realized I had to make & bake gifts for my co-workers today. Tomorrow I have to pack and on Friday I leave for Vegas! Woohoo!
I baked some Skorbit bars and dark chocolate chunk cookies and packaged them in the Martha Stewart food packaging kits. Hope they like it!

I got these beautiful mauve tulips from Quince Flowers. They were left-over flowers from our photo shoot on Tuesday. I couldn't bear to see them thrown away!

Snowed in

The city is covered in snow right now. I've been stuck inside my house watching videos all morning and playing with my dog.
Next week is super busy for me with the 2 photo shoots happening on Tuesday and Wednesday. Plus, my Art Director from New York is flying in on Monday night so it will be a busy week for me.

Last night I made some Christmas cards for my friends and family. Something simple.
I also did a test run on treats that I will be making for my co-workers.

Holiday crafting

Went a little crazy over the weekend.
I made more cheque book covers (for my sisters) and fabric coasters for my old co-workers.
I'm planning to bake cookies and treats for my new co-workers with my Martha Stewart Goodie Box Combo kit that I bought at Michaels this weekend.

Why, Martha???

Martha Stewart's Blueprint Magazine has just folded. They apparently "misjudged the market" for the "fresh, fun guide to personal style." The final issue will be January/February 2008.
Now what will be my guilty pleasure???

Cosmo + Rosco. What does that equal?

I saw this in the west coast and it made me think about my dogs. I used to have a dog named Cosmo and now I have a dog named Rosco. Maybe my next dog will be named Cosco?

I can eat shellfish and fish!

I got my allergy test done today.
A year ago I had a bad reaction after I ate at Red Lobster. However my test today proves that I can eat any kinds of fish/shellfish. Not that it stopped me from eating it...
I am, however, allergic to cats.

Crafting

I was snowed in all weekend so what better way to pass time than to do some crafting!
I had all these wonderful fabrics lying around from Purl Soho that I had yet to touch so I decided to make something fun.
I made a cheque book cover out of Etsuko Furuya's prints. I also made my own button that would colour coordinate with the red bias tape. What do you think?

Wish list

Although, to me, Christmas isn't about us receiving gifts here is my wish list for all-year-round:

> Louis Ghost Chair by Phillipe Starck I am thinking of having this as my office chair. I currently have a cheap IKEA chair.
> Cartier Love Bracelet Lately I've been seeing this bracelet everywhere. I know it's been around for quite awhile, but I love the idea of this bracelet.
> Millicent & Frank pop timber size 1 I can see this hanging beside my dining table. It would make my pad look oh-so-chic.
> FLUF Organic pillows I've been looking everywhere for a pillow that would go well with my Amenity pillows and I think I found it!
> m0851 Hockey Travel Bag I'm planning to go on my honeymoon in spring and this bag would be the perfect travel bag.
> Area Linen Fold Creme Pillow I love the simplicity of this pillow.
> Branch Felt Pebbles These would look beautiful in a bowl.

Pics from Vancouver

Fall!

My personal encounter of Faces in Places.

Near Granville Island.

View of the city skyline from Q Market.

Going up to Grouse Mountain in the cable car. dk was so scared...

A scenic view from Grouse Mountain.

A real Super Mario Mushroom! It was humongous too! We saw it on the way to Kitsilano Beach.

dk's favourite burger joint. He claims it's the best burger he's ever had, but I beg to differ. I still think Hero Burgers is THE best.

I will miss you!

So today is my last day at my current company.
My co-workers were so sweet. They bought me my favourite cupcakes from Babycakes plus my favourite chocolates from Soma. What can I say I have a big sweet tooth!
Although there were bumps along the way my co-workers were amazing to work with.

Updating my recipes

Yesterday I spent most of the day updating my much-needed recipe journal.
I made my own 4 x 6 cards and tucked them into my recipe journal sleeves. However, Rosco could not help, but stick his nose into my business!

Back in Toronto

My husband and I had an amazing time at Niagara Falls.
We stayed at a gorgeous hotel with a breathtaking view of the falls and one of the highlights of the trip was our wine tasting tour at Inniskillin. We sampled some delicious ice wines as well as red & white wines.
