Manicure Monday- Spring blue edition

re any of you as excited as I am for Spring/Summer? The weather has gotten slightly warmer where I live so I only want to put on bright polishes. I'm sick of dark polishes. I'm also OBSESSED with glitter polishes lately. I know it's a b*#%! to take off, but I just love how it looks on the nails.

What are your favourite colour combos for Spring? I'm always open to suggestions.

I am wearing Sally Hansen's Barracuda with Deborah Lippmann's Today Was a Fairytale
as the accent nail.

Sally Hansen's Barracuda can be a little tricky to apply because it is thick and the
brush is too big, but I love the colour. 

Deborah Lippmann's Today Was a Fairytale is also hard to apply because the glitters
don't go where you want them to go. I'm kind of wishing that I used a silver base
underneath the glitter polish instead of using it over Barracuda as the blue is showing
through too much…

an you tell I have a weakness for nail polishes? My nail polish collection is steadily growing each day and I'm not sure how long til my nail polish drawer becomes completely filled. Probably not long...
Anyways, just thought I would share with you all a little of my recent purchases.

I haven't worn all the colours yet, but I'm slowly getting around to them. I will share with you some of my favourites out of the bunch that I have tried out.

Currently I'm wearing the Revlon Ocean Breeze nail polish. It's almost an exact dupe of Gosh's Ocean
and similar to Essie's Trophy Wife (Trophy Wife is more teal), but at a fraction of the cost.
I actually picked up the 2 Revlon poslihesat my local Shopper's Drug Mart when it was on sale for $3 each.

Sorry, but my nails are chipping already. I was doing housework today.

This is one of my favourite reds! It's not photographing true to colour.
It's actually a blue-toned red and it looks great on your toes too!

I got this free when I bought 2 Deborah Lippmann polishes at Holt Renfrew. It's such a cool colour.
It's a dark, dark bluish green. It almost looks black on the nails, but in different lighting you can
definitely see the bluish green shimmer, but the shimmer is very fine. It's a very unique colour.
If you can get this polish I promise you, you won't be disappointed!

I have never seen a colour like this. This is Deborah Lippmann's Wiked Game. I was debating whether
to get Chanel's Peridot nail polish because that polish had the same duo chrome effect as in this
polish, but in green. However, I have seen Peridot on the nails and it doesn't have the same
effect as in the bottle. This, however, looks amazing on the nails. I couldn't stop looking at my nails
and turning it ever so slightly to see my nails change colour. I got lots of compliments when I wore
this polish. Definitely worth the hefty $20 price tag.

My last favourite out of all the nail polishes I purchased is the Butter London's Rosie Lee polish.
It's a glittery rose gold nail polish. Again, so unique and it went on evenly on the nails. This was about
$17 at Holt Renfrew.

Laced up

hile I was at Walmart a few days ago, I spotted the new Sally Hansen Salon Effects Nail Polish Strips. They were kind of hidden, but I had read a bit about them in beauty blogs so I immediately went through their stock and found the one that I had been interested in- Laced Up. It basically looks like there is lace overlay on your nails.

Basically these are like nail polish stickers that you stick onto your nails. It comes in a pack of 16 that comes in different shapes and sizes to fit your nails perfectly. I have short nails so I was able to cut some of them in half to not waste product. It took a while to do all my nails because I wanted to do them perfectly, but it was not hard at all. Just a little time consuming. If you're still a little hesitant on how to put these on there are YouTube videos out there that show you how. I suggest you watch those. So what do I think of these? I LOVE IT! I'm thinking of picking up their other styles- Skinny Jeans (denim print), Check It Out (houndstooth pattern), Misbehaved (fishnet pattern), Wild Child (zebra print), and Kitty Kitty (leopard print). I think it comes in a total of 25 colours/prints. That's a pretty good range. Where I got it it was just under $9. It looks really professional and amazing on. So save your money next time you think of going to the nail salon and try these!

They claim to last up to 10 days. I'm on my 2nd day and so far so good. I was really hesitant to believe that these would hold up well, but I'm really impressed with it. Yesterday I was cleaning my house- scrubbing the sinks and all sorts of heavy work and not a dent. Today I was assembling my son's gourmet kitchen set and still no signs of any damage. Plus, my friends commented today how my nails were so neat. They couldn't even tell they were stickered on. My co-worker has the Skinny Jeans (denim) one and she said she would try it this weekend so I'm going to see how that looks on her tomorrow.
