Jewelry + (more) nail polishes + clothes haul

an I show you what I got today? Yes... I went shopping yet again, but they were all for cheap things so that's ok. I'm most excited about the jewelry because they are so pretty, but totally affordable. And, they don't look cheap either. They actually look like designer jewelry.

I went to the Superstore because I saw that they carried Milani last time I went and I really wanted to pick up the Liquif'Eye eye liner pencil. I heard so many good things about it. However, they were all sold out. Boo. However, I spotted Joe Fresh jewelry nearby and I picked up 3 things:

I picked up 3 necklaces.

This shot doesn't do this necklace justice. It is such a sparkly necklace because of the multi facets on the beads. The beads are not all the same colour either. On every 3rd bead it's a lighter shade of the gold so it really does make the necklace sparkle. The chain is also adjustable so I can wear it long or more like choker-style necklace. I think it would look beautiful with a white button-down shirt. It also came in a smokey black. Also beautiful, but this one made my skin tone look nicer.

And guess the price??? It was a steal at $14 CAD.

I love the brush metal chains on this necklace. The chains look almost white and it is tied with a grosgrain ribbon.

Only $19!

I think this is my favourite out of the bunch. I know it looks plain, but it's also in the brushed metal and the chains are quite heavy. It doesn't feel cheap at all. It closes with a large lobster clasp. I'm going to be wearing this alone or even layer it with the necklace that I showed you above this one.

Best of all it was 50% off the original price. However, when I scanned it at the self-scan check-out it was even cheaper than $7! It was $6 something.

And, I bought 3 more polishes again today. I have a shopping list that I have on my iPhone shopping list app where I write down all the polishes I want to pick up in the future. I add colours I want to check out when I read it on beauty blogs so that it's easier for me to remember all the names. I categorize it under each brand.

I heard Jenny rave about this in her Nail Polish Trends for Spring 2011 video on YouTube so I knew I had to get it.

I've never heard about this nail colour- Camisole anywhere yet, but Sally's Beauty Supply had a deal where you can get 2 China Glaze polishes for $12. I got my previous China Glaze polish at Trade Secrets for $10 each so I thought this was a great deal.

Ingrid talked about this colour in her Spring 2011 Nail Polish Picks video on YouTube, but she had mentioned it a few times before this video. The colour is just amazing and I can't wait to try this on!

I'm a little bit bummed because I want to try all these new polishes I picked up in the past 2 days right away, but I just put on China Glaze's Re-Fresh-Mint...

Last, but not least, I want to show you a couple of pieces that I picked up from my cousin's store- Tabula Rasa. They are both vintage pieces that she re-worked.

This shot isn't showing the true colour of this jacket. It's more of a raspberry red. It's a boyfriend-style blazer with shoulder pads. Who would've thought that I would be wearing shoulder pads again...

It's made out of wool, but not it doesn't feel heavy. I wore it to work on Friday with skinny jeans and heels. I got lots of compliments on it. I think the key is to wear this with skinny jeans and heels to balance the boxiness of this jacket.

I love this piece. It's very big and boxy, but when you wear it right it looks fabulous! My cousin picked this out for me because she saw that I was looking at some jean jackets. I twit pic'd this jacket on my OOTD (outfit of the day) tweets that I do fairly regularly. See below for those shots.

The sleeves are dolman sleeves. I would wear this jacket very loose and open with skinny jeans or leggings. I also tried it with a dress and a belt over it and that looked pretty nice too.

Update

ust a quick update to let you know what I've been up to these days. The month of July has been absolutely crazy. I celebrated my son's 1st birthday, I hosted my in-laws and my sister-in-law while they were visiting (my mother-in-law is still here) from out of town, and I started my first day at work last Monday. Once things settle down I will be able to do more posts, but until then it's pretty hard finding the time to do anything. Plus, every weekend has been filled with baby showers, birthday parties, dinner parties, etc. etc.

I've sort of gone on a shopping spree before I headed back to work. I haven't really purchased anything while I was on maternity leave so it felt so good to buy something for myself. I bought some clothes at Tabula Rasa (which I will show you guys once I have the time!) and I scored a beautiful blazer yesterday by DVF. I've been eyeing the Diane von Furstenberg blazer ever since I saw it a few weeks ago, but I thought it was still too expensive. Yesterday I saw it again for 40% off the lowest ticketed price! I couldn't resist. So I ended up buying it for over 75% lower than the original price. Yes! Originally it was $489 and I got it for $112. It's a beautiful boyfriend jacket in the colour Mink in a stretch satin crepe. I can't wait to wear it with my skinny jeans or over a LBD.

Biggest sale yet

've been extremely busy trying to take photos of my jewelry and also making new ones for Tabula Rasa. I went down today to show Jenn my stuff and she bought 48 pieces! This was the biggest purchase yet from her. Apparently my 'Stephanie' rings were one of her best sellers as well as the 'Naomi' rings. Naomi is my niece, btw. I've named all my jewelry after people I know. I took a few snapshots of the items that are displayed in her store with my iPhone camera.

Next time I go there I need to do some shopping. I've been so broke lately because I'm on mat leave that I haven't done any shopping for myself. Since I go back to work next month I need to buy some clothes! I'll show you guys what I pick up next time. She has some really great pieces at her store. I would have looked today, but I went there with my husband and son and it was really difficult because they were getting restless while I was doing business with Jenn. I didn't think they would like it if I started trying on clothes. You know how boys are...

On another note, my husband and I bought a car today. We don't get it until next Friday, but it's a used Acura 2007 MDX Special Edition. It's so sweet! I know I said I was broke, but since I go back to work next month I think we'll be ok. We were driving a 1999 Acura 1.6EL and that car is way too small as a family car. With my baby's car seat in the back I have to really squeeze in to get in there. And I'm not even a big person! If we have another baby in the near future we won't be able to use that car. Plus, my husband knows how frustrated I was being stuck at home all day for almost a year because I didn't have access to a car. He usually took it with him in the mornings to the train station to go to work. I live in the suburbs so it's really hard to get around unless I have a car. My husband has been in love with an MDX for a long time so he is pretty stoked. I don't think he'll let me drive it for a while. He's kind of anal that way. I'm not that anal about things even if I get it for the first time. Whatever.

What a night!

abula Rasa is officially open for business! I just came back from the launch party and let me say it was AMAZING! Jenn, my cousin, did a fabulous job opening her own store. I'm just so proud of her. The store exceeded my expectations. I had to leave the party early to go home to my baby son, but the party was still booming when I left. I was in charge of the cash so I was able to witness how much of a success her opening was. People were lining up to buy stuff in bulk! Most of the stuff people were buying were vintage pieces, but her jeans were a hit as well.
I'm also very excited because Jenn picked up my collection of handmade jewelry that I made. I only made a few rings, but she was adamant that I sell it at her store today. I'm going to be making more pretty soon so if you're interested just message me. If you scroll all the way to the very end of the photos you will see my rings. The photo of my rings that I took are not great because it got washed out, but I took pictures earlier today at home that were a lot better. I'll post that up pretty soon. I'm also happy to say that I was able to sell one of my rings while I was manning the cash. I'm so flattered that people liked what I made and were even willing to pay money for it! It was such a fun crafty thing to do. BTW, my new line of handmade jewelry is called June/July/August. The reason for that is my husband's birthday is in June, my son in July, and mine in August.

This is her cash register area. Jenn actually made that table. It was made out of birch barks. So nice. Also, she was lent that Broadview sign (the name of her store street) by an antique store next door. It gives the place a nice touch.



This was our makeshift bar area. We were serving $3 beer and $3 champagne.



Again, Jenn added nice touches throughout her store with vintage items. Here we have a vintage fan and some slate pieces. Tabula Rasa means 'blank slate' in Latin.



The outside of her store. She found those letters at Anthropologie. It's funny because I was going to buy those letters for my son's room. I think it's so much nicer than the typical store signage, no?

And voila, my rings! It's a bit hard to see, but I had 6 rings for sale. They are packaged in a really cute container. I got so many nice compliments. ^_^
